The 2021 GLC 300 was a mid-cycle refresh for the model. It received a significant interior and exterior styling update, as well as major tech upgrades to keep it competitive. This makes the 2021 model a much more modern-feeling vehicle than the pre-2020 versions.

Interior Revolution: The biggest change was inside. It received the latest-generation MBUX infotainment system, replacing the older COMAND system.

This included a standard 10.25-inch central touchscreen that was vastly more responsive and intuitive.

It also featured MBUX's natural voice control ("Hey, Mercedes").

The standard instrument cluster became a high-resolution 12.3-inch digital display, a huge step up from the previous analog cluster.

Exterior Styling: Refreshed front and rear bumpers, new LED headlight and taillight designs, and updated wheel designs.

New Steering Wheel: A new, more modern touch-capacitive steering wheel replaced the older design.

The focus remains squarely on refined comfort. The ride is plush and absorbent, making it an excellent long-distance cruiser.

The powertrain is smooth and effortless. The 9-speed automatic is a highlight, delivering seamless shifts.

Handling is secure and competent but leans towards understeer and body roll when pushed. It is not a sporty SUV; it's a comfortable one. The steering is light and isolated.

Interior, Comfort, & Technology
This is the 2021 model's strongest selling point, thanks to the refresh.

Ambiance: The cabin is a classic Mercedes environment with high-quality materials, excellent fit and finish, and a sense of solidity. It feels more traditionally "luxurious" than a Tesla and more mature than the then-upcoming Lexus NX.

MBUX System: The addition of the standard large screens and the new MBUX software was a game-changer. It brought the GLC's tech feel much closer to modern standards, though it still relies on more physical buttons than a Tesla.
